Spend two inspiring days with a professional photographer and discover what it takes to create powerful portraits.
You'll explore the art of composition, learn how to work with light, set up a shot, and direct a model with confidence. You'll also get hands-on experience with basic retouching using Adobe Suite, giving your images that polished finish.
By the end of the course, you'll choose your best work to feature in a public photography display in March, an amazing opportunity to showcase your creativity.
This is a fun, practical programme where ideas flow and collaboration is key. Along the way, you'll build skills that go beyond photography: visual storytelling, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and presentation.
The workshops run on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 February 2026, from 10am to 4pm. Open to young people aged 13–19, with no previous experience or equipment required, just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.
This Young Creatives project runs in parallel with Life Through a Royal Lens, an exhibition at The Amelia Scott, opening 13 February 2026.
Participants will rotate between photographer and subject roles; therefore, full media consent is required.
