Secondary Schools - Amelia

Most of our engagement with Secondaries comes from bespoke requests, so please get in touch to find out what we can do to support your students’ learning.

Local Knowledge:

We have a wealth of knowledge to share with your students through staff expertise, unique resources such as material in the archive, and the chance to explore objects held in the Collection Store which are not currently on view to the public.

Art:

The Amelia provides the perfect opportunity for students to build up their sketchbooks. Choose objects from our handling collection such as skulls, taxidermy, Roman oil lamps, Victorian toys, Tunbridge Ware and much more. Students can take the outcomes a step further and learn how to curate their work.

Research skills (including EPQ):

We are strongly placed to support your students in developing their research skills. With access to our physical archive as well as online databases, we can help your students understand the value and reliability of sources.

Careers:

- We offer talks and assemblies on careers in the arts.

- In the summer term, we offer a work experience ‘experience’ for groups. This runs across two days and includes:

- basic interview skills

- the chance to interview a range of staff about their roles, experience and career path

- a behind the scenes look at how services function

- presentation skills

- the opportunity to present on their experience
